Channelholic Ethics Policy

  1. In addition to writing Channeholic, I’m chief content officer at Channel Mastered and founding editor at The ChannelPro Network, where I used to be executive editor and still contribute occasionally. Everything you read in Channelholic, however, reflects my views and mine alone.

  2. Channel Mastered is a consultancy for vendors who want to build and run MSP channels. In the course of covering the news for Channelholic, I sometimes write about Channel Mastered clients. I disclose these relationships when they arise in my posts.

  3. Nothing you read in Channelholic stems from a paid or sponsored content deal. No one, including Channel Mastered clients, can buy or otherwise negotiate coverage in Channelholic.

  4. Companies I write about in Channelholic sometimes cover hotel fees, airfare, or both when I attend their conferences, and they almost always waive the admission fee to get in. This is a standard practice in channel journalism that benefits vendors (by attracting more media coverage), reporters (by allowing us to stretch our travel budgets), and readers (by enabling reporters to attend and report on more industry events). No vendor I’ve ever written about has conditioned current or future travel compensation on favorable coverage.

  5. I don’t share anything I write about vendors with those companies for review prior to publication. They see what I’ve written about them when you do.

  6. Vendors often share news with me in advance under embargo if I agree to keep the story private until it officially goes public. Agreeing to that request allows me to provide richer, more thoughtful coverage in a timely way.
